Why I Vote Republican

Filed under: Why I Vote Republican — admin @ 8:34 am

Why I Voted Republican

I wrote the following as a tongue-n-cheek rebuttal to a Republican bottom dweller’s attach on me. Please read it for what it is.

 Why I voted Republican?

*I voted Republican because

I am tired of Democrats always trying to take

care of the poor and middle class. If Republicans

always ruled we would still be able own a slave.

We wouldn’t be wasting our money taking care of

kids, seniors, disables, sick or – underpriveleged

Americans. (Even though everyone knows that the

original republican party was formed to abolish slavery. The

party didn’t because a tool of corporate America until the

end of WWI.)

*I voted Republican because

When I get married I want to own my wife.

Then I can stop her from voting

*I voted Republican because

I like wars to secure oil resources for private corporations

and I like high gas prices and record profits in hard times

*I voted Republican because

I like seeing my buying power decline along with

the value of my retirement, my stocks and my home

*I voted Republican because

I view freedom of speech as a license to

offend, insult, lie and misrepresent at will

*I voted Republican because

I don’t mind going to war on lies.

I don’t care how many civilians we killed or terrorists we created

I don’t think there were lessons to learn from Viet Nam

War, any war, is good for the morale of Republicans

War, any war, is good for the military industrial complex

*I voted Republican because

I want every dumb ass in America to have a gun

I think Police getting into shootouts is good training for them

I like a high crime rate because it creates jobs and redistributes wealth

without having bigger government

*I voted Republican because

I don’t care if global warming ruins the Earth

I will be dead by then and who cares about people

that haven’t been born yet

*I voted Republican because

I don’t care if we kill any more innocent death row prisoners

Anyway, I am sure they must have done something wrong

*I voted Republican because

I think illegal aliens should work for free for American Corporations

and any money they are paid in payroll taxes and SS taxes

should be given to Corporations to divide as they will

*I voted Republican because

I believe government should listen to big businesses

and do everything they say

I believe that small businesses should continue to operate

in an environment of unfair competition from giant corporations

and have a bail out plan ready, with highlights that include

closing their doors and seeking employment with their former

giant competitor

*I voted Republican because

I believe conservative judges will take us back to the

dark ages when men were men and women belonged to men

I believe conservative judges help us do away with every

law and program that assists women and minorities so there

will be more money for the poor abused corporations

*I voted Republican because

My head is empty and incapable of ever having an original thought

and the Republican party most closely emulates that characteristic

I want so much to be like Rush that I shoved my head way up his skirt

and just let him do all my thinking for me.

*I voted Republican because

I prefer my party to be as secretive as possible

I trust my Republican politician implicitly and

besides, too much information makes my head hurt and

interferes with my ability to hate everyone that Rush tells me to

*I voted Republican because

I believe that although the large corporations pay very little or no taxes,

it is still too much. I believe that Republicans can eventually make sure

corporations don’t pay anything to do business in the US

*I voted Republican because

I believe that Republicans can someday force every American child to

Pray to the Christian God whether their parents want them to or not

*I voted Republican because

I believe that it should be legal to beat gay people and intern them

in concentration camps.

And because I think it should be OK to kill people we don’t like.

Especially when my god tells me to.

Choosing Sides

Filed under: Choosing Sides — admin @ 9:31 pm

In my opinion, the single most harmful thing that the American masses do to undermine their own interests is to choose sides. I contend that Republicans and Democrats are both working against the masses, and any bones they throw are too little, too late. The real political struggle today is the same struggle that has existed for thousands of years. That struggle being the struggle of the masses against the greed of the powerful and the rich.  The masses can have tremendous power if they assert their interests as a group. Unfortunately, the rich and the powerful realize this and use our two party system of government and their control of media to get the masses to choose sides by filling the heads of the masses with irrelevant issues. It isn’t that the distracting issues aren’t important. They are merely irrelevant in the most important issue, the struggle between the rich and powerful and the rest of us. Issues such as, gun control, gay marriage, redistribution of wealth, stem cell research, taxes, just to mention a few, distract the masses in a capitalist society from what should be their sole political goal, WHAT CAN GOVERNMENT DO FOR US? (If you would substitute “me” for “us” in the previous question you are missing the point.) If the masses were unified, anything that is done for a “group” that is part of the masses, is being done for the masses. Corporations and the rest of the rich and powerful have no problem thinking only about their best interests. They own everything and still spend huge amounts of their vast resources buying special consideration from government, taking corporate welfare (money that should be helping the masses) and fighting tooth and nail, every effort government makes to provide money or services to the poor and middle class masses. Not to mention the money they spend getting the masses to buy into being afraid of everything from germs in your home, to terrorists and the flu. This way we become dependent on them because we are so grateful for their protection from all the bad things in the world. Bad things often created by the same entities that are protecting us from them.

What can the masses do to gain power for themselves? One thing we can’t do is continue to attack people who are part of the masses but don’t share our idea of what is important. What are Liberals? Well, liberals are people who exhibit a concern for people or things that they feel need help or protection. Why is this a bad thing? Why do we call them names? Christ was the ultimate social liberal. Christ was mocked and called names by the rich and powerful people of his time. We now know that he was carrying out God’s will. Why would we ridicule and defame those people who emulate Christ’ behavior. Especially if we call ourselves Christians. Believe me, it is because we are manipulated into bad behavior. Why can’t we, as members of the masses, acknowledge that Liberals are only trying to do good things as they see a need for them. What is wrong with that? As a fiscal conservative, I applaud Liberals but blame Politicians for trying to appease every liberal cause with money. As a social Liberal, I would be happy if government just offered a more compassionate message. Let’s face it, if it wasn’t for Liberals, we would have little protection for disabled Americans, animals, the environment, seniors, children… Conservatives on the other hand, are the checks and balances we need on spending issues. They are concerned about the degradation of our society with regard to values and morals. There is not only nothing wrong with these concerns, but they are necessary. It is important for the future of our nation that both sides are heard. That can only happen if we LISTEN to each other and act in the best interest of the majority of people in this great Nation. We all can see how we are getting manipulated by the “powers that be”. Regardless of whether Dems or Reps are in office, things just keep getting worse for the masses.

A few things to think about: (I know, none of these things are possible, so why try? Remember, that is exactly what those who pull the strings want you to think!)

  1. Always question everything you hear or read. With the Internet, it is easy to do and you owe it to your family, friends and your Country. Parents, if you teach your children only one thing, teach them to question what they hear, see and read. You will create a member of society that makes decisions based on truth, not rumor and lies.
  2. NEVER vote for an incumbent politician. Never! Any short-term benefit will be overshadowed by the long-term harm. What I hear from people is that they are all crooks, or that one party is just as bad as the other. Well I agree, so why do we keep putting the same crooks back in office over and over again. A great way to start is to send the message that you get it and want them to be more responsive to your needs. I can tell you that the longer they are in office, the more powerful they become. If power is the problem, then why do we keep giving it to them? They will try to tell you that their experience is necessary to run the Country properly. I contend that Politicians corrupted by corporate dollars cannot possibly run this Nation in my best interest. (Maybe if I get rich some day I would promote different behavior. I doubt it, but until then, I sure would like to see people act in a way that benefits the majority of people.) Besides, have you seen the sheer magnitude of work generated in Congress. I have spent time in Washington, and I assure you that your elected official does very little to produce the final draft of a proposed bill.
  3. Use the almighty dollar (you better do it now before the current politicians get us signed up for that World Currency they are working on. Sorry about the fear thing) to get Corporations to act more responsibly. Tell corporations to stop asking for money or special laws from our government, or we will stop buying their stuff for a few months.

I actually think Politicians should be made extinct accept for a few tasks. In the age of computers, there is no reason why we can’t vote on all government issues ourselves. Got a law you want passed, just have every interested citizen go online and enter their SS number/password and vote. If the people want it, they will pass it. If they don’t, they won’t. One side benefit of doing business this way is that Politicians would have to ask the American People if they can have a raise.

I wanted to speak a little about choosing sides in politics and how counterproductive that practice is to the interests of all of us little people in the US. I may have gotten a little carried away, but if you have any opinions about what I have written, I would be very much like to hear them. Have a great day!

Michelle Obama’s Staff

Filed under: Misinformation — admin @ 3:45 am

I received the Republican generated email below and had to respond to it. The following facts were easily found on-line but conservative bottom feeders choose to send out a bunch of lies intended to discredit the current President that they hate so much. Here are the facts. Below you will find the original email and in it a perfect example of how information is being distorted and used to divide our nation.

Yes, Michelle Obama has a reported 22 staffers (not 27). If you add her makeup artist and personal stylist you could say 24 with a combined annual salary of 1.57 million dollars.

Laura Bush however did not have one staffer she had 18 (20 if you count her makeup artist and personal stylist) with a combined annual salary of 1.4 million dollars.

Hillary Clinton had a staff of 19 assistants (21 if you count her makeup artist and stylist).

Dr. Myra Gutin, a professor of communications at Rider University and a first ladies historian, says that the first lady’s role has certainly “grown and evolved” since the 1960s, but generally speaking, the first lady’s “staff numbers about 14-16.” Gutin said she recalled “some first ladies have had staffs of more than 16.”

Original Email with subject “time to HURL…”

Obama’s abuse the office of the Presidency.
First Ladies assistants:
Laura Bush : one
Hillary Clinton : three
Jackie Kennedy : one
Michelle Obama : twenty-two !!!!!!!!!!!!

First Lady Requires More Than Twenty Attendants! July 7, 2009 ……(Dr. Paul L. Williams)

“In my own life, in my own small way, I have tried to give back to this country that has given me so much,” she said. “See, that’s why I left a job at a big law firm for a career in public service, ” Michelle Obama

No, Michele Obama does not get paid to serve as the First Lady and she doesn’t perform any official duties. But this hasn’t deterred her from hiring an unprecedented number of staffers to cater to her every whim and to satisfy her every request in the midst of the Great Recession.
Just think Mary Lincoln was taken to task for purchasing china for the White House during the Civil War.
And Mamie Eisenhower had to shell out the salary for her personal secretary. How things have changed!
If you’re one of the tens of millions of Americans facing certain destitution, earning less than subsistence wages stocking the shelves at Wal-Mart or serving up McDonald cheeseburgers, prepare to scream and then come to realize that the benefit package for these servants of Ms Michelle are the same as members of the national security and defense departments and the bill for these assorted lackeys is paid by John Q. Public

1. $172,200 Sher, Susan (Chief Of Staff)
2. $140,000 Frye, Jocelyn C. (Deputy Assistant to the President and Director of Policy And Projects for the First Lady)
3. $113,000 Rogers, Desiree G. (Special Assistant to the President and White House Social Secretary)
4. $102,000 Johnston, Camille Y. (Special Assistant to the President and Director of Communications for the First Lady)
5. $100,000 Winter, Melissa E. (Special Assistant to the President and Deputy Chief of Staff to the First Lady)
6. $90,000 Medina , David S. (Deputy Chief Of Staff to the First Lady)
7. $84,000 Lelyveld, Catherine M. (Director and Press Secretary to the First Lady)
8. $75,000 Starkey, Frances M. (Director of Scheduling and Advance for the First Lady)
9. $70,000 Sanders, Trooper (Deputy Director of Policy and Projects for the First Lady)
10. $65,000 Burnough, Erinn J. (Deputy Director and Deput y Social Secretary)
11. $64,000 Reinstein, Joseph B. (Deputy Director and Deputy Social Secretary)
12. $62,000 Goodman, Jennifer R. (Deputy Director of Scheduling and Events Coordinator for the First Lady)
13. $60,000 Fitts, Alan O. (Deputy Director of Advance and Trip Director for the First Lady)
14. $57,500 Lewis, Dana M. (Special Assistant and Personal Aide to the First Lady)
15. $52,500 Mustaphi, Semonti M. (Associate Director and Deputy Press Secretary to The First Lady)
16. $50,000 Jarvis, Kristen E. (Special Assistant for Scheduling and Traveling Aide to the First Lady)
17. $45,000 Lechtenberg, Tyler A. (Associate Director of Correspondence for the First Lady)
18. $43,000 Tubman, Samantha (Deputy Associate Director, Social Office)
19. $40,000 Boswell, Joseph J. (Executive Assistant to the Chief Of Staff to the First Lady)
20. $36,000 Armbruster, Sally M. (Staff Assistant to the Social Secretary)
21. $35,000 Bookey, Natalie (Staff Assistant)
22. $35,000 Jackson, Deilia A. (Deputy Associate Director of Correspondence for the First Lady)

(Total = $1,591,200 in annual salaries)

There has NEVER been anyone in the White House at any time who has created such an army of staffers whose sole duties are the facilitation of the First Lady’s social life. One wonders why she needs so much help, at taxpayer expense. Note: This does not include makeup artist Ingrid Grimes-Miles, 49, and “First Hairstylist” Johnny Wright, 31, both of whom traveled aboard Air Force One to Europe .

Yes, I know, The Canadian Free Press has to publish this because the USA media is too scared they might be considered racist. Sorry America SICKENING………ISN’T IT?

R.E. Bell – I don’t think it is sickening. I think it is sad. Millions of Americans being influences by these lies. Playing on their fears and lack of political savy. There is no good reason for the American poor or middle class to support the agenda of the rich. The only reason they do is the misinformation they are fed every day by the American media as they have done above.

Just how Capitalistic are we?

Filed under: Capitalism vs Socialism — admin @ 3:33 am

While I have definite views regarding our government and it’s socialistic programs I would first like to relate a little experience of mine from college. In 1969 I was blessed with the opportunity to taught Political Science by Dr. John T. Everett Jr. Dr. Everett was the department founder and chair. For many years before and after 1969 Dr. Everett was a Presidential adviser on Soviet foreign policy. One day in class Dr. Everett discussed The United States and the Soviet Union with regard to the levels of Capitalism and Socialism exhibited by the two Nations. He began the discussion with a simple but illuminating graph. He drew a horizontal line on the blackboard and at one end wrote Capitalism and the other Socialism. He wanted to know where we thought the US and USSR should be placed on the graph to reflect how capitalistic or socialistic we thought each was. Many in the class felt the US would be at one end and the USSR the other end. After the lecture however it became clear that on a capitalism/socialism scale the two counties were very close to one another near the middle. The US slightly on the capitalism side of center and the USSR slightly on the socialism side of center. The point being, the US has always been very socialistic with less and less free market capitalism being practiced as we evolve.

Back to today. I hear over and over from the bottom that they are opposed to universal health care because they don’t want to be a socialistic state. We have always had a socialistic government. Public education is socialism. Building and maintaining roads is socialism. Social Security is socialism. The police are a form of socialism. The military is socialism. Research and development funding for the drug companies is socialism. The US Forest Service builds road into forests at tax payer expense so logging companies can clear cut out forests and mining companies can remove minerals from public lands. These expenditures constitute socialism. Taxpayers funding flood insurance for homeowners who build homes in 100 year flood plains or on the coast is socialism.

The point is do we want to see that all citizens in this wealth society get quality health care or not. Stop with the socialism arguments. The question should be are we a caring, compassionate nation of people or not. If you don’t give a damn about the uninsured just say so. Stop hiding behind the “socialism” smoke screen and admit that you are not interested in following Christ’s compassionate example.

A View From The Top

Filed under: Welcome All — admin @ 5:23 pm

Welcome to LiberalMinded.com. I am glad you dropped by and hope we can positively temper each others views of the world though this discourse. I am a 58 year old businessman now living in Nevada. I was a Political Science major in college. I am a radical social liberal with strong fiscal conservative leanings. In this Blog I will give you my opinions on many things including social logic, political ideologies and philosophies, truth and facts, economics, foreign policy, the deadly C’s of American politics, government rhetoric and much more. I hope you will reply with your comments and opinions. However, I must warn you that the replys need to by civil. I don’t tolerate name calling or outright meanness. I assume that if you have valid points supporting your position you will make them here. If you don’t I will assume that you don’t have anything supporting your position. And please check your facts because if you don’t I will use your post as an example of the bias pervasive in todays discourse.

I am a behaviorist Christian. I look at the examples set by Christ and try to emulate them as I have been taught. I believe that when possible the strong should protect and care for the week. My wife and I rescue animals.  That is our thing. I would love to hear how you are helping the World you live in. I am most interested in hearing from conservatives why they don’t agree with my view of Christianity. I may not be able to get you to act more compassionately or purposefully in your political activities but I do think that some of you will think less of yourselves, especially if they profess to be good Christians.
